People used multiAVCHD 2157265 times since 01-Jan-2009!
This program is for those of you, who want to:
* put up to 252 different files (MPEG2, Quicktime MOV, MKV/AVC, AVI/AVC, M2TS/MTS, TS, TRP, M2V, VC1, 264, MP4, MPLS, IFO, etc.) or AVCHD / Blu-ray / DVD / VIDEO_TS folders
in one place and navigate all these via nice 1080p top menu:
- XMB style MENU: up-to 252 scrollable titles (similar to Playstation3 cross-media-bar XMB)
- SLIDE MENU: up-to 252 scrollable titles (similar to Apple iTunes)
- CAROUSEL MENU: up-to 252 scrollable titles
- THUMBNAIL MENU: 36 pages x 7 titles
- LIST MENU: 18 pages x 14 titles
- NO MENU: 252 directly selectable titles during playback
* Author AVCHD
* Author Blu-Ray
* Author SD_VIDEO for Panasonic MPEG-2 Viera/BDP
* Author HD DVD discs 3xDVD (HD-DVD on DVD-R media)
* transfer their DVD backups without reencoding into Blu-ray or AVCHD format (DVD menu is not imported)
* watch their Blu-ray Disc backups without reencoding (PS3) (just select your movie M2TS file
from the original BDMV\STREAM folder (the largest one) and use it with multiAVCHD;
Or load the BDMV folder and enter RE-AUTHOR mode to get a complete backup of your Blu-ray title
suitable for Playstation3 USB HDD.
You can also remove audio tracks and add your own (external) tracks to keep final size smaller or re-encode
existing HD audio tracks to much smaller (but quality) AC3 audio tracks. 20GB bluray disk movie takes about 10-20 minutes
to be transferred to an AVCHD compatible folder, playable in any BD (BluRay Disk Player) or Playstation 3.

Short GUIDE/TUTORIAL:
BEFORE WE START:
* AVCHD is a standard and as such poses some requirements of your input files.
* In this tutorial a term "NON COMPLIANT" or (NC) is used for MKV/M2TS/MTS/TS files, which not conform video/audio restrictions of AVCHD standard. (1920x1080, 1440x1080, 1280x720, 720x480 and 720x576).
* Click here to find out how NC videos are played on Playstation3 and click here to download mutiAVCHD Resolution Tests
* NOT COMPATIBLE is (or may be used) for h.264 (AVC) video in terms of AVC LEVEL 4.1 incompatibility with Playstation3/BluRay/AVCHD standard - usually too high reference count in encoder settings (x264 or other) (ref=X)
* DVD-R and DVD-RW are used as general terms for DVD re/writable media (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW)
* SDHC is used as general term for SD (Secure Digital), SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) and MMC (Multimedia card) cards
* USB is used as general term for USB HDD, USB flash disk / stick / pendrive

QUOTE FROM multiFORUM.deanbg.com:
Output folder structure for optical media (DVD or BD-R/RE) with drive name X:
X:\BDMV
For USB/MemoryStick:
X:\AVCHD\BDMV
For SDHC/MMC cards:
X:\PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV
Panasonic Viera options are especially for Viera and this mode is restricted - yes, there is no other way. Using force fps/resolution options change only certain things in MPL/CPI fields so Viera would accept the AVCHD video if it is unsupported. These changes should not affect a Panasonic BD player if the same card is used both in TVs and BD players.
Change log - There is a complete change log in the sticky thread, as there was in multiAVCHD post #1 @ doom9.

Most build updates are related to new features, but some introduce problems. User decides if to update or not. I wouldn't know if a bug is present until someone reports it, and even more, I wouldn't release a new build if I know there are bugs in it.
multiAVCHD evolves rapidly and changes by the hour, not by day or week. If you have a build that works for your 100% - do not update. I do not support older builds, so it's up to multiAVCHD users.
Use UP/DOWN/DEL/CLEAR (Up/Down/Delete/Clear) to rearange the list of files/folders. This order will be used when creating the compilation.
EDIT to edit TITLE properties. You can do it in MENU TAB also. Names will be used for menu creation. Use VIEW to see 3x3 thumbnail preview.
Destination folder - Destination folder for your compilation
Output folder suffix - Will be added to "AVCHD" folder name. Also can be used for displaying in intro video if [x] Show in intro is checked
SAVE / LOAD project - allows you to save/load multiAVCHD current state + compilation properties in MPF file.
3. Once you're done adding media files/folders, click on the Muxer & Audio tab:
"Cut start" and "Cut end" fields allow you to set START and END time in seconds
to cut from the input files.
These values will be applied to
all input files (but not the AVCHD folders).
Font properties for 480i/576i/720p/1080p conversions
are self explanatory.
[x] Use eac3to - Click on it to select your eac3to.exe. It will be used if you import MPEG2 videos or if audio track of imported files need to be reencoded to AC3/LPCM (for TrueHD/DTS-MA/HRA) for AVCHD compliance.
[x] TrueHD/DTS-MA/HRA to [160/224/384/448/640] kbps AC-3 - Will convert high definition audio (HD audio) to Dolby AC-3 (you will need eac3to checkbox checked).
[x] TrueHD/DTS-MA/HRA to LPCM- Will convert high definition audio (HD audio) to Liinear PCM (LPCM) (you will need eac3to checkbox checked).
[x] Use ffmpeg - Click on it to select your ffmpeg.exe. It will be used for AAC to AC3 audio conversions.
Non-HD audio to AC3 bitrate [384] - Bitrate for AAC/MP2/MP3/OGG (Vorbis) to AC3 audio conversion.
[x] Convert DTS to AC3 - Will convert DTS audio to AC3. (you will need eac3to checkbox checked). This option is REQUIRED for Panasonic Viera/camcoders output!
4. Move to Author tab.

[x] Create top menu - If unchecked, next 4 options will not be available and no top menu will be created. Sequential playback will start from Title#1.
[-] Thumbnail menu - If checked, multiAVCHD will produce thumbnails of your titles - 7 per menu page - max of 36 pages. Requires x264/avisynth/mplayer.
[x] XMB menu - If checked, multiAVCHD will produce XMB-like menu with maximum of 252 browsable titles. Requires x264/avisynth/mplayer.
[x] Slide menu - If checked, multiAVCHD will produce iTunes-like menu with maximum of 252 browsable titles. Requires x264/avisynth/mplayer.
[x] Carousel menu - If checked, multiAVCHD will produce menu with maximum of 252 browsable titles. Requires x264/avisynth/mplayer. (design by Atak_Snajpera @ doom9)
[-] TV System [PAL/NTSC] - NB! ALWAYS SELECT PROPER TV SYSTEM.
AVCHD/BD version: [001/002] - Header identifier for bdmv/mpls/clpi files.
[x] Stricter AVCHD folder format - If checked and you use "AVCHD for DVD/BD-R" button, folders as AUXDATA/BDJO/CERTIFICATE/etc. will NOT be created, as they are not part of AVCHD standard.
Note: About CERTIFICATE/AUXDATA and other folders - they should not be present in AVCHD compilations -
their presence may confuse AVCHD compatible players to switch to Blu-ray mode and then fail
to play the disc. On the other hand - if the player is not AVCHD compatible
it may require all these folders to accept the disc as BD and play it. These condition apply mainly when using DVD media.
Volume split at (MiB): [8140] - At this point this option is not available. It will be used to split FINAL multiAVCHD created folder if output size is greater than DVD9 size.
Media split at (MiB): [4000] - After processed with tsMuxer, input files will be split at selected size. Used for FAT32 compatibility.
[-] Skip welcome screen - No welcome screen will be produced if checked.
[x] Play all (Sequential title playback) - If unchecked, after each title top menu will be shown.
[-] Skip top menu playback - Top menu will be skipped and playback will start from Title#1.
Action after last title - Go to stand-by / Display menu / Loop playback
[x] Force black fill for NC files - If checked - in Playstation 3 no green bar will be shown under video and subtitles will be shown in the black bar. At this moment there is NO WAY to center the image - it will be TOP ALIGNED with black bar underneath.
[-] Ignore MKVs with high ref count - If MKV files are encoded with incompatible options (high reference count) they will not be added to final compilation. Read more about specs here.
[x] Force AVC Level 4.1 - it will replace current h.264 header with level 4.1. It may improve compatibility with Playstation 3.
[-] Force AR to 16:9 - If checked - all clips in the comilation will be set to have aspect ratio of 16:9 (1.77).
[x] Force subtitle track #1 - If checked - subtitles will be automatically turned on, when you play your titles.
Welcome screen: Properties / Preview

5. Move to Menu tab.

Background [IMAGE] - JPG/BMP file to be used for menu background image.
Background transparency - If slider is moved to the right, thumbnail will be fully opaque and you will not see your custom background image.
IG color (YUV) - Color for navigational graphics (arrows)
IG OPACITY % - Move to left to make navigational graphics more transparent or to the right to make them more visible
Frames to encode - If you don't see the navigational arrows and custom menu, use higher value (about 14-16). Defines frame count to be used when encoding custom navigational menu pages
Headline/Font/Size/Offset - It will be used as a headline in your menu (select font of your choice in the next box)
Font type/Color/Outline - To be used for coloring TITLE names.
Footer/Font/Size/Offset - It will be used as a footer line in your menu (select font of your choice in the next box)
[ Preview ] - Click to see how your menu will look like (for this to work you need x264/AviSynth 2.58 and [x] Custom menu checked). A preview screen will open:
[x] Use Directshow (XMB) - multiAVCHD will try to use Directshow to generate thumbnails for XMB menu. If fails - mplayer will be used.
[x] Create chapter thumbnails (XMB) - if unchecked - thumbnails for chaptermarks will not be generated in XMB menu.
[-] Show title names only (XMB) - No video/audio/subtitles/duration information will be shown in XMB menu
[x] Grayscale manu backgrounds - Use grayscale instead of color for background image. Here are samples of how it will look.
[-] Extract menu fonts - Click on it to extract three truetype (TTF) fonts in your multiAVCHD folder. Copy them to you fonts folder or install via Control Panel / Fonts. Custom menu should look nicer.
Smart line - Text to be displayed in lower right part of menu pages
6. Click a title name in media tab to open Title properties:

8. Settings tab:
[x] Delete temp files - All temp files from video muxing and audio conversion will be deleted. Folders will remain - you will need to delete them by hand.
[x] Move transitional files - Used when converting MKV/TS/MPG files. It will speed transfer if TEMP and TARGET folders reside on the same physical drive.
[-] Show spawned tools - If checked - you will see some windows open and close while executing different tools.

[x] Use ImgBurn with DVD/BD-R output - Click on it to select your ImgBurn.exe. It will be used to burn compilation to BD/DVD after you've started multiAVCHD with the AVCHD for DVD/BD-R or Blu-ray for BD-R buttons.
Character set: [Default 1] - Charset to be used with subtitles (and some other operations). Default 1 should work for most people - if not - select your proper codepage/charset.
Temp folder: Path to store temp files. Make sure you have at least twice the input size of free space in this folder/drive.
9. About tab:

10. Log tab. Here you will see the progress of multiAVCHD work. If you selected to create log file in Settings tab,
then you will have the contents of this tab saved in multiAVCHD.exe path + _LOG\.

Here are the results:
If [x] Show in intro is checked you will be presented with a welcome screen:
If only [x] Custom menu is checked your main menu may look like this::

If [x] Thumbnail menu is checked your main menu may look like this::

If [x] XMB style menu is used:

If [x] Slide menu is used:

A special combination of switches and custom background will let you create menus like drelin's: (since version 4.0 there is custom template option in 'title properties').
Author tab:
[x] XMB menu
[-] Show build and date in footer (unchecked)
Menu tab:
[-] Create chapter thumbnails (unchecked)
[-] Grayscale title backgrounds (unchecked)
[x] Show title names only (XMB) (checked)
* Transparency: 100% (move the slider to the far right)
* Remove Headline, Footer and Smart message texts.
Title properties:
* Set your special background as POSTER image for each title
...then you can create semi-custom-looking menu for any number of titles. :)

4. FAQ:
1) If launching multiAVCHD gives you error about (RT) DragDrop problem ("= cDragDrop: DragAcceptFiles: (RT) Access violation at address xxxxxxxx. Write of address xxxxxxxx - Line 11") - read this post.
The problem is with WINDOWS DEP (data execution prevention). It needs to be set to "windows essential programs only" or when set "to all" then multiAVCHD should be added as an exeption. |
2) Can I add new files/folders to existing multiAVCHD compilation?
Yes, you can use your old compilation as input:
1) You have existing multiAVCHD compilation - named AVCHD
2) Rename it to AVCHD_old
3) Drag AVCHD_old to multiAVCHD
4) Add new files
5) Make sure you have [x] Move transitional files in Settings checked
6) Select TARGET and TEMP to be the drive where AVCHD_old is - this will speed up things.
7) Create your compilation
8) Close multiAVCHD and remove AVCHD_old folder
multiAVCHD will simply MOVE your files and it won't require additional space, except for the added content (new files). |
